Endodontic dentistry

Image
Like many other medical terms, ‘ endodontic ’ comes from two Greek words ‘endo’ which means inside & ‘odont’ meaning tooth. It deals mainly with diagnosis & treatment of any diseases or injury to dental pulp which is inside the tooth like root canal therapies,  endodontic   surgeries. Its main objective is to save your natural tooth. The pulp is a soft tissue inside tooth which has nerves & blood vessels. If the dental pulp gets infected it should be removed from the root canals to prevent further damage to the tooth and surrounding structures. In  root canal therapy  the infected pulp is removed and root canals are then cleaned and replaced with a suitable dental filling in order to save the tooth. Your dentist can advise on what will work best for you as the treatment plan differs from case to case. Usually a non-surgical  root canal  treated tooth can last for a lifetime, but few of the cases might require surgical intervention....
