Bone Grafts

Bone #grafts act as a #scaffolding and #filler to aid in new bone growth.

Moreover, bone grafts available can be biological (natural) or synthetic.
Your dentist can use any type of grafts which works best depending on your specific case and situation.

The bone graft is like a platform for nearby bone to grow on; the new bone growth eventually replaces the graft material.

Furthermore, all the grafting procedures are not alike.

The procedure depends on the location, amount of lost bone and if the grafting is immediately after tooth extraction or if the there is time lapse after loss of tooth / teeth.

Typical Procedure:

After administration of anesthesia, your surgeon makes an incision and place the bone grafts in area of bone loss. They may use multiple tools and supports to keep the grafts in place like screws, wires, cables, plates, pins.

Your surgeon will then close the wound with stitches. The dentist will monitor a person for several hours after procedure, before discharging they will also educate and instruct on how to help prevent infections.
