How to get rid of Bad breath[ Halitosis]

 










Bad breath [ medical term know as halitosis] is a unpleasant odor coming from mouth as a result from poor dental heal of problems. This may be due to unhealthy lifestyle habits. It may be caused by tooth decay, debris on the tongue and dehydration of mouth or any other infections and may be due to inadequate brushing or debris left on teeth. TREATMENT FOR BAD BREATH;

1.Dental cleaning may be solution for plaque removal and also treating the underlying medical problems such as a sinus infection or any organ diseases will also reduce the  bad breath problem.

2. Sometimes Bad breath may be due to dry mouth, if that's the cause then dentists may advice some products which may stimulate secretion of saliva and also drink plenty of water, 

3.Use mouth rinses and toothpastes. They may contain anti bacterial agents to kill bacteria that cause plaque build up.

CAUSES OF BAD BREATH;

1.Poor oral maintenance; Improper oral maintenance like not doing flossing ore brushing properly results in accumulation of food debris on tongue and teeth.

2. Dry mouth/ Xerostomia; Not having sufficient salivary production results in improper removal of debris from oral cavity. Dry mouth may seen in salivary gland infections.

3.Not cleaning properly for wearing dentures. 

4. Due to diet by eating foods like garlic/ onion or also seen in smoking and drinking coffee.

5.Impacted tooth region; As they are in back tooth region it is very hard to clean and maintain so it may cause bad breath or it may be due to gum/ periodontal diseases.

PRECAUTIONS FOR BAD BREATH;

1.Brush twice a day with fluoride tooth paste and also brush after you eat and replace your brush for every 2 to 3 months. Use floss for trapped food particles between teeth.

2.Scrape your tongue with tongue cleaners which removes debris accumulation on tongue. Chew sugarless candy instead of chew gum and after dinner, mints it also helpful in production of saliva which helps wash away food particles and bacteria. Xylitol mints are best.

3.Drink water and gargle your mouth after eating food.
