oral care and seniors
As we get older our teeth require more attention, since we get only a single set of permanent teeth it is extremely crucial to take proper care of them for as long as we live.
Furthermore there is high risk for us to get severe gum disease, dry mouth, tooth decay, sensitive teeth and other dental issues.
Moreover risk for certain diseases and conditions like heart disease and diabetes increases a lot as we get much older.
So even if you wear dentures, it is important to maintain your regular visits to the dental office once every three to six months.
Do not forget to brush your teeth with a soft bristle toothbrush or an electric toothbrush twice a day and always use fluoride base toothpaste. Remember to floss and clean in between your teeth at least once in a day.
Maintain a well balance diet and monitor your sugar intake throughout the day, limit alcohol consumption as it can dehydrate your mouth. Avoid tobacco as it is known as one of the causes for mouth cancers.
